IF YOU RECEIVED VOUCHERS LAST YEAR, YOUR APPLICATION IS BEING MAILED. There is no need to request another application.

The  Senior Farmers Market Nutriton Program (SFMNP) is a Congressionally-authorized program administered by the Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship in cooperation with the Department of Elder Affairs and the Area Agencies on Aging. A senior must meet age and income requirements and complete an application to receive SFMNP benefits. Benefits are distributed by the Area Agencies on Aging June 1 through Septemer 30 on a first-come-first served basis. The SFMNP is governed by the WIC/Senior FMNP Administrative Rules, Chapter 50.

APPLICATIONS:

  • Participants must have a yearly income below $28,953 for a household of one and $39,1128 for a household of two.
  • To qualify for the coupons, you must submit an application via mail. 
  • If you received coupons last year, you will automatically receive an application in the mail by mid-May.  If you changed your address, please call (855) 410-6222.
  • If you are applying for the first time, please call (855) 410-6222 to request an application, or download an application here.  
  • Applications will be accepted through the mail, and Farmer’s Market vouchers will be sent to you through the mail.
  • No business will be transacted at any Milestones office, and there will be NO distribution centers. The program will be conducted through the mail only.

2025 Senior Famers Market Nutrition Program - Program Information

  • Participants must be 60 years of age or older at the time of application (born in or before 1965).
  • Participants must live in the service area of the Area Agency on Aging.
  • Participants must have a yearly income below $28,953 for a household of one and $39,1128 for a household of two.
  • Lost or stolen checks cannot be replaced. Once SFMNP checks are issued to a participant, the participant is responsible for them.
  • Each participant receives ten $5.00 checks for a total one time benefit of $50.00.
  • SFMNP checks may be used June 1-October 31 at authorized farmers markets, authorized farmstands and authorized Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms, where the “Farmers Market Nutrition Program Checks Welcome Here” sign is displayed.
  • A farmers market is a marketplace where a group of farmers gathers to sell fresh products directly to consumers.
  • A farmstand is a location at which a single, individual farmer sells his/her products directly to consumers.
  • A Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm is one in which a farmer grows food for a group of shareholders (or subscribers) who pledge to buy a portion of the farmer’s crop that season.

SFMNP checks may be used to purchase only fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey. SFMNP checks may not be used to purchase baked goods, eggs, nuts, plants, flowers,crafts, etc.

  • SFMNP checks are worth $5.00 and no change will be given. If the purchase is less than $5.00 the farmer will add fruits or vegetables as indicated by the participant to make up the difference.
  • More than one SFMNP check may be spent with a single farmer. For example, two checks to purchase a bag of apples or three checks to purchase tomatoes and a dozen ears of sweet corn.
  • If an item other than locally grown, fresh fruits and/or vegetables is bought from a single vendor, it must be handled as two separate purchases, one using SFMNP checks and the other using cash (e.g., buying vegetables and bakery items).

The participant must sign each SFMNP check at the market at the time of purchase. Farmers Market vendors cannot accept pre-signed checks.
