Milestones is hiring a Nutrition Service Coordinator I in Davenport, IA

The Nutrition Service Coordinator I manages a single non-cooking nutrition center effectively so that seniors benefit from the meal and the social contact available to them in a meal site setting.    Responsible for overall coordination and distribution of meals. This position is also responsible for recruiting individuals to help with the various volunteer jobs at the meal site.

RESPONSIBILITES

  1. Responsible for all aspects of running a non-cooking nutrition center.
  2. Maintains a current and accessible Hazard Chemical book, policies & procedures manual, emergency plans, and can execute action in case of emergencies.
  3. Performs outreach activities that promote and encourage participation in nutrition programs.
  4. In consultation with appropriate staff, if applicable, determines necessary quantities of food and supplies required, orders meals and supplies.
  5. Oversees reservations and documentation.
  6. Ensures food safety standards are practiced.
  7. Recruits, trains, manages volunteers in performance of their designated tasks, if applicable.
  8. Coordinates home delivery route scheduling for efficiency, if applicable.
  9. Becomes knowledgeable of Milestones programs for seniors to provide basic information, assistance, and referrals.
  10. Promotes nutrition center(s) as a focal point, by outreaching and planning activities of senior interest that encourages participation.  This includes Nutrition Education presentations at least once monthly, daily announcements, reading next day’s menu, scheduling health promotion events/topics, and providing current Milestones program information.
  11. Accurately completes and submits all daily, weekly, and /or monthly paperwork timely.
  12. Accounts for all monies received.  Making sure all home and congregate monies are separate.
  13. Reports problem situations or concerns regarding the nutrition center, participants, or volunteers to supervisor.
  14. Serves up congregate and/or deliver home meals from bulk food containers (or in accordance to meal delivery system established).
  15. Transports meals from cooking site to serving site, if applicable.
  16. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

  2. Experience with food purchasing, preparation and planning for large quantities.

  3. Customer service and/or public speaking experience a plus.

  4. Experience working with volunteers a plus.

  5. Must have basic computer skills and working knowledge with Microsoft Applications.

  6. Good verbal and written communication skills.

  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality of participants.

  8. Can maintain safe and sanitary work habits.

  9. Must have Serve Safe Certification or within 6 months of date of hire.  Certification must be maintained if work site does not have a head cook on site.

  10. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. on your own and up to 50 lbs. with assistance.

  11. Must have the ability to travel as job requires.  Special circumstance accommodations may be made at Program Director or CEO’s discretion.

SCHEDULE

Part-Time: Monday – Thursday, 10:00am – 12:00pm
