The Community Engagement Director is responsible for enhancing the organization’s public presence, cultivating strategic community partnerships, and securing external funding through effective grant writing and outreach efforts. This position supports the mission by strengthening relationships with stakeholders, identifying funding opportunities, and aligning community engagement activities with organizational goals. The role requires strong communication skills, initiative, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across programs.
Community Engagement & Outreach
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners, agencies, coalitions, and organizations.
• Represent the agency at community events, meetings, presentations, and outreach activities.
• Coordinate public awareness initiatives to promote organizational programs and services.
• Serve as a liaison to local media outlets and assist with public communications as needed.
Grant Writing & Resource Development
• Research, identify, and evaluate grant opportunities aligned with agency needs and strategic priorities.
• Prepare high-quality grant proposals, letters of intent, budgets, and supporting documents.
• Track grant reporting deadlines and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
• Maintain accurate grant files, reporting systems, and related data for compliance and audit purposes.
Partnership & Relationship Management
• Build and sustain mutually beneficial relationships with funders, donors, community partners, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather data, success stories, and program outcomes to support funding proposals.
• Assist in developing partnership agreements, MOUs, and collaborative initiatives.
Communications & Visibility
• Support the development of outreach materials, press releases, newsletters, and social media content.
• Promote consistent branding and messaging across internal and external communication channels.
• Participate in the planning and execution of community events and organizational campaigns.
Additional Responsibilities
• Attend internal meetings and trainings as required.
• Provide support to leadership and program staff on community relations strategies.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Human Services, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proven experience in grant writing with a successful funding history.
• Experience in community outreach, partnership development, or public relations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and common communication platforms.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

• Experience working in nonprofit, governmental, or human services environments.
• Knowledge of aging services, community-based programs, or related service networks.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local grant systems and reporting requirements.

• Regular use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally for event materials or outreach activities.
• Must be able to travel locally for meetings, events, and outreach (valid driver’s license required).
• Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for community events or deadlines.
Full-Time: Typically, Monday – Friday, 40hours/weekly with an approximate start time of 8:00 AM. Occasional weekends may be required to attend Agency or Community events and engagements.
