Caring for someone who is aging in place or living with a physical disability, dementia or a mental health condition can be rewarding, but it can also be stressful and time-consuming. When you are supporting a family member, military member or veteran, you need reliable information, helpful services and compassionate support—often right away.
Milestones Area Agency on Aging is bringing local organizations together to make that support easier to find. At the 16th Annual Quad Cities Caregiver Conference, you can connect with representatives who understand the caregiving journey and can help you explore resources in one convenient place. The event is free of charge and will be held Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Golden Leaf Center in Davenport.
Connect with resources and take time for yourself
Throughout the conference, you can meet with representatives from businesses and nonprofit organizations that provide essential services, products and support for caregivers. You will also have opportunities to pause, recharge and enjoy self-care activities, including chair massages, therapy dogs, and self-care bags with commemorative gifts for the first 150 attendees.
Be inspired by a special guest speaker
In celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary, the conference will feature Marjorie Healy, author of Bringing the War Home: The Life of a Military Caregiver. A military and veteran caregiver advocate and nonprofit professional, Marjorie will share an inspirational message about her caregiver journey. She will speak twice during the event, at 9:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
