Quad City Family Caregiver Conference – Saturday, March 23, 2019
Information & Assistance for Family Caregivers
The Quad City Family Caregiver Conference is right around the corner, so mark your calendar for Saturday, March 23rd, 2019. This year’s conference will be held at St. Ambrose University’s Rogalski Center, from 8:00 a.m. – Noon. Exhibitors will be on hand to consult about services, and products, and give demonstrations; attendees will also enjoy free refreshments, quality speakers, the chance to win great door prizes, and even improved parking. This event is FREE and especially designed for caregivers.
The goal of the Quad City Family Caregiver Conference is to empower individuals and families in their role(s) as caregivers, by providing a venue to make the search for resources and information easier. This year’s keynote speakers include: Joe Sample, M.P.A., M.A., “Sex and Dementia: Navigating and Preparing for Change” and Dr. Jade Angelica, M.Div., D.Min., “Meeting Alzheimer’s: The Healing Power of Yes”. Keynote speakers are chosen for their ability to enlighten, educate and reinforce caregiver self-help, enabling individuals and families to become more comfortable and stable in their role as a caregiver.
According to the National Association for Caregiving (NAC), 8 out of 10 caregivers have expressed the need for more resources, information and support, and on average spend approximately 24 hours per-week on caregiving. Many are unprepared for the financial, emotional, and physical toll it can have. This year’s 9th annual conference hosted by Milestones Area Agency on Aging, St. Ambrose University, Unity Point Health-Trinity, Alzheimer’s Association, and Alternatives is designed to help fill that gap.
